On Tipcast 15 we pick up from our discussion on recovery by evaluating when maximal recovery each day hinders maximal training adaptation. By examining training as a stressor with a long-term positive outcome, we can make an informed decision about when to pull out all your tricks. Reviewing the research, suggests that mitigating the all the “Bad” of training, like anti-oxidant production, blocks much of the post exercise adaptive process. We hope you’ll think twice before using: · Buffers to reduce lactate during training · High doses of antioxidants like Vitamins C & E · NSAIDS, like Advil Finally we wrap up with tips on when and how to use recovery techniques, particularly those that enhance the response vs. just reduce it.
